Tips for Using Hootsuite

Hootsuite is a social media management application available online and through mobile devices. It lets you manage and keep track of your social media sites, including Twitter, Google+, Facebook and LinkedIn. You can set up filters for keywords and manage multiple profiles. If you have more than one account on each platform, Hootsuite is a great way to keep track of interactions and schedule future posts. Here are some tips for first-time users of Hootsuite.

Integrate All Profiles
First of all, register for a Hootsuite account and set up all of your social media sites.Hootsuite lets you connect your account with four social media networks: Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. You can also integrate more than one account for each profile. So if you have 3 Twitter profiles for 3 different businesses, you can watch the feeds and schedule posts for each of them. The management system through Hootsuite lets you manage multiple accounts much more easily. After integrating and setting up, everything can be viewed from your dashboard.

Schedule Future Posts Frequently
Hootsuite lets you schedule your future posts and there isn’t a limit for how many to schedule. But be careful with this: you don’t want to have them scheduled too far in advance. Just because something is trending today, doesn’t mean it will be in a couple weeks. Try to restrict yourself to scheduling only a few days ahead of time, but still keeping up on current trends and adding new posts regularly. You may need to adjust the posts being scheduled, based on what is currently popular on the different sites.

Download the App
Hootsuite has an app for iOS (Apple) operating systems and Android making it available on most smartphones and tablet PCs. You may need to access your HootSuite dashboard when not on your regular computer, so this is extremely helpful. With the app, you can interact with others, view the latest posts and even schedule future posts and updates. That way you’re keeping up with your Hootsuite interactions wherever you are.

Filter by Keyword
You probably aren’t going to read every Facebook status, Google+ news, Twitter update and LinkedIn update through Hootsuite. To keep from getting overwhelmed and only viewing those most interesting to you or relevant to your business, filter the streams by keyword. You can select any keywords you want to use as a feed filter on Hootsuite, whether you wan tot keep track of your business name on Twitter, or only keep up with certain topics on Google+.

Hootsuite is one of the most popular social media management tools out there, and for good reason. It’s free for most users, is easy to use and learn and allows for integration of multiple profiles.
